Le répertoire des brouillons doit être dans mail, j'imagine, donc pour
poursuivre sur cette piste, essaye :

ls -l $HOME/.evolution/mail

Par ailleurs tu n'as pas donné le retour de la commande 

df

qui indique la place restante sur tes diques, pour vérifier si ton disque
est plein.
